I took Core Interaction 1 last semester, but I didn’t find the course content (nor the professor) particularly engaging.
In all honesty my experience with coding is extremely limited; I don’t know how to do much more than set up a basic website,
change background and text colors, and copy code from W3 Schools. The class covered HTML, CSS, and a little bit of Java Script,
but I think I am most skilled with HTML. I really enjoyed having interactive elements on my websites, but I struggled to understand
the code behind them. I also enjoy coming up with concepts for websites, when I really take the time to sit with the project brief.
I have a difficult time connecting different webpages through buttons, and in general I’m a little shaky on how to connect my CSS
and HTML.

I’m pretty nervous about learning code. I did not get a strong foundation last semester, and I’m concerned that I’m going
to be behind all of my classmates. I am also worried that because I’m not yet very skilled with code, I wont be able to produce
designs that match my visions. Last semester, I resorted to submitting projects that I knew were not my best work/conceptually
compelling, because I didn’t feel capable of coding anything complex; I also felt like my professor wasn’t particularly invested
in helping students fine tune their ideas before diving into the code. This semester, I would find it really helpful to have some
guidance in terms of making sure that my concepts are compelling (but also reasonable given time and skill constraints) before I
start coding. I would also love to have the lectures recorded if possible, so that I can re-visit them outside of class.

I’m interested in marketing and advertising, but I’m also appalled by the effects that capitalism and consumer culture have on
the environment. In a broad sense, I’d like to use my graphic design/coding skills to create ad campaigns for
companies/organizations that are environmentally conscious. Because the digital world is such a prominent part of our lives,
I would like to find ways to use/create digital platforms that flip the destructive narrative that has been sold to us by large
corporations (i.e. buy, buy, buy).
I have only ever used Atom.

I have never used GitHub before this class, but to my understanding, it allows users to store the code they create, and
share it with others.

Oh my. I believe that HTML is used for coding the basic content and layout of a website, the CSS is for designing the visual
appearance, and JavaScript is best for creating interactive elements. The best analogy that I can think of is a house.
HTML provides the structure of the house: the wood, concrete, drywall, etc. CSS is the wall paint colors, the roof tiles,
the brick color. JavaScript is the finishing touch that makes the house run the way it should; electrical outlets, plumbing,
heating and air conditioning, etc.

Swiss Typefaces has some of my favorite typefaces, and I love how they are presented in a way that shows users the
font in context with beautiful backgrounds and compelling animations. Plus, they give out plenty of free trials.

Behance is one of my favorite design platforms because it displays work that comes directly from artists.
Most of my graphic design inspiration comes from Behance.

I love looking at designers websites, and I like that this website includes interviews with the designer.
